Oboist Sebastian Breit and Pianist Diána Fuchs at Austrian Cultural Forum New York

Oboist Sebastian Breit, soloist of the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna Philharmonic, and pianist Diána Fuchs, an award-winning Vienna-based musician, present a program exploring poetic and romantic soundscapes.

About the Concert

Experience a captivating musical conversation between two distinct instruments — Sebastian Breit (oboe) and Diána Fuchs (piano) bring together rich historical traditions and expressive modernity. The program highlights the poetic and emotional depth of chamber music, featuring Schumann’s Romances, Britten’s Metamorphoses after Ovid, and Beethoven’s groundbreaking Pathétique Sonata. The duo explores the oboe’s lyrical qualities alongside the piano’s dynamic versatility, weaving through Romantic and contemporary compositions, from Heinz Holliger’s Lied to Liszt’s visionary Legends. The evening concludes with Kalliwoda’s refined yet playful Salon Piece, leaving audiences with a smile. Through their artistry, Breit and Fuchs transcend time and genre, offering a performance that is both intimate and expansive—an homage to the power of musical storytelling.
