Luigi Carroccia with the Argus Quartet at Carnegie Hall (Site)

Tuesday October 13, 7:00 pm

Luigi Carroccia with the Argus Quartet at Carnegie Hall

Award-winning Italian pianist Luigi Carroccia, who recently embarked on a complete cycle of Schubert’s piano sonatas, offers one of the most cherished of the composer’s major works: the luminous Piano Sonata in G Major, D. 894. The evening’s program also features Chopin’s Second Piano Concerto in an arrangement for string quintet, an illuminating chamber format in which Chopin himself performed both his famed concertos. The vibrant New York–based Argus Quartet opens the program with Schubert’s riveting “Quartettsatz,” then performs alongside Carroccia for the Chopin work, joined by bassist Tyler Vittoria. This performance, which will be followed by a reception with the performers, is presented in cooperation with the Nicola Bulgari Foundation, where Carroccia is currently artist-in-residence.

This concert is free to attend and will last approximately 70 minutes. All patrons are kindly asked to reserve tickets in advance. Please note, however, that seating will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis and is subject to venue capacity.
