Chopin Piano Competition winner Bruce Liu returns, this time performing Tchaikovsky’s rarely heard Piano Concerto No. 2. Nielsen’s The Inextinguishable Symphony closes the concert with elemental force, raging with snarling brass and culminating in a thunderous duel of timpani. Conductor Ryan Bancroft makes his New York Philharmonic debut.
Prelude Reception
We will host a pre-concert Prelude reception with Philharmonic musicians prior to the December 4 performance. This is a benefit for donors at the Benefactor level and above. With questions or to RSVP, contact membership@nyphil.org.
