SUMMARY:David Kaplan: “Quasi Una Fantasia” - Beethoven’s “Moonlight\,” at 92nd Street Y
DESCRIPTION:A big-thinking pianist with a huge musical mind\, David Kaplan’s recitals are built around compelling concepts\, as with his“ … quasi una fantasia.” \nCelebrating the Beethoven anniversary\, Kaplan explores the grey area between composition and improvisation\, looking at Beethoven’s “Moonlight” Sonata through a modern lens via contemporary pieces by composers from Ligeti and Christopher Cerrone to Saariaho and Anthony Cheung. \nOnline streaming also available for 72 hours following the performance.
