SUMMARY:DOROT at 50! Music of Composers who Exiled to the UWS at Dorot
DESCRIPTION:Join us IN-PERSON for a live performance as we celebrate DOROT’s roots and mission! \n\nDOROT at 50! Music of Composers who Exiled to the Upper West Side \nDOROT has provided opportunities for Holocaust survivors to cultivate and sustain community as they age. In this event\, we celebrate those roots as well as how vibrantly DOROT’s mission continues. Three composers with very different stories are featured – Ursula Mamlok\, George Grosz and Jerzy Fitelberg. They all escaped persecution and found welcome on the Upper West Side with its tight-knit neighborhoods and music-filled apartment buildings. \nDOROT Artist/Scholar-in-Residence Jeanne Golan will be joined at the piano by violist Judith Ablon for this afternoon of solo and duo pieces that range from Romantic to Jazzy to Avant-Garde.
