ABOUT JONATHAN SARAGA (trumpet)
Jonathan has worked with acclaimed ensembles such as the Maria Schneider Jazz Orchestra, Darcy James Argue’s Secret Society, the Birdland Big Band, The Mingus Big Band, Orrin Evans’ Captain Black Big Band, the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra, as well as with ensembles led by Tyshawn Sorey, Steve Coleman, and Henry Cole. He has received awards from the International Trumpet Guild, the School for Improvisational Music, the Millay Colony, the ASCAP Foundation, Chamber Music America, the International Society for Improvised Music, Downbeat Magazine, the International Society of Jazz Arrangers and Composers and the Jazz Foundation of America.
ABOUT SIMÓN WILLSON (bass)
Simón Willson is a Chilean born, New York City based bassist and composer. He has toured Europe, the US, Canada, and South America, and has worked regularly with Dave Douglas, Ethan Iverson, Jason Palmer, Pablo Held, Frank Carlberg, and the Mark Morris Dance Group. He co-leads the bands Family Plan and Earprint, the latter winning the 2016 NPR Music Jazz Critics Poll’s “best debut album”. Willson can be heard on over thirty records for labels such as Tzadik, Greenleaf, Steeplechase, Newvelle, Endectomorph, in addition to a number of self-releases. His bandleading debut album “Good Company” will be released October 13, 2023 on Fresh Sound Records.
ABOUT MARIUS VAN DEN BRINK (piano)
A native of Amsterdam, Marius has performed and recorded with well-known artists such as Jeff ‘Tain’ Watts, Joel Frahm, Fransesco Mela, Ingrid Jensen, Ara Dinkjian, Haley Reinhart, the Birdland Bigband and the Tonkunstler Orchestra. He is a winner of the Pathways to Jazz Award, and has performed at world class stages such as the North Sea Jazz Festival(Rotterdam), Birdland Jazz Club(NYC), Sony Music Hall(NYC), The Cretan World Music festival(Greece).
