ABOUT MATT DWONSZYK (BASS)
Matt Dwonszyk is an accomplished bassist, composer, arranger and educator from Rocky Hill, CT. Dwonszyk graduated from the Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz studying under his mentor and world-renowned bassist, Nat Reeves and then went on to receive his Masters degree from SUNY Purchase College. Based in Brooklyn, NY since 2015, Dwonszyk still frequents back home to Connecticut to perform and teach.
Throughout his career, Dwonszyk has performed and recorded with numerous contemporaries as well as legendary jazz artists including Steve Davis, Harold Mabern, Jazzmeia Horn, Bennie Wallace, Dr. Eddie Henderson, Herlin Riley among many others. In 2018, Dwonszyk toured through Russia apart of the Rainy Days Jazz Festival and in 2019 he toured through Canada with the Oleg Butman Trio. His last tour was in 2022 with Jonathan Barber and Vision Ahead through the West Coast of the U.S. He frequently performs at some of the top jazz clubs in New York City including Smalls Jazz Club, Dizzy’s Coca Cola Club, Smoke and The Blue Note.
Dwonszyk’s debut recording, “Wonderful World”, was released May of 2019. His second album, “A Year and a Day”, releases July 1st, 2022 featuring his band, the Dwonztet.
Dwonszyk has been on faculty at Manchester Community College since 2019 teaching Jazz Bass and teaches Jazz History at Central Connecticut State College. He coaches ensembles at the Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz and teaches privately throughout New England.
ABOUT KELLY GREEN (PIANO/VOCALS)
Kelly Green is a critically acclaimed pianist vocalist who currently resides in Queens, New York City. Born and raised in Florida, she began singing as a toddler and started piano lessons at age seven. At age eleven she became interested in jazz and began attending the Jamey Aebersold Jazz Workshop every year with her father, who is a professional bass player. Her senior year of high school she recorded and produced her own album of twelve original songs called “Aspire”.
Kelly attended William Paterson University where she received her Masters in Jazz Piano Performance. She took private lessons with acclaimed pianists Harold Mabern and James Weidman. She also had the privilege of taking a semester of arranging lessons with master Cecil Bridgewater and three semesters of classical piano lessons with the amazing pianist and educator Gary Kirkpatrick. While studying at William Paterson she was also able to perform in ensembles directed by the late master of the piano, Mulgrew Miller, as well as Bill Mobley, Armen Donelian, Rich Perry, Dave Rogers, and Bill Goodwin among others. For her last two semesters she was the pianist in the William Paterson Jazz Orchestra led by head of the WP Jazz Department, Dr. David Demsey. In this band she had the opportunity to perform with NEA Jazz Master Jimmy Heath and legendary jazz vibraphonist Steve Nelson.
She has performed in bands alongside jazz luminaries such as George Coleman, Christian McBride, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Jimmy Heath, Steve Nelson, Nat Reeves, Steve Williams, Bill Goodwin, Rich Perry, Winard Harper, Philip Harper, Steve Wilson, Stacy Dillard, Jonathan Barber, Josh Evans, Bruce Williams, Frank Lacy, TK Blue, James Zollar and Jovan Alexandre among others.
ABOUT LUCA SOUL ROSENFIELD (BASS)
Luca Soul Rosenfeld is a double bassist born and raised in New York City. A son of a painter and a bass baritone singer, he began studying music at age 8 when he took up the guitar. By age 14 his attention turned toward the acoustic bass while attending the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts, where he played in the big band and the symphonic orchestra. In this period he became involved in the Jazz Standard Youth Orchestra, a Sunday performance program at the esteemed club on E27th Street. He received his Bachelors in Jazz Studies – bass performance at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music (class of 2014) on a merit scholarship. He has studied with great masters such as Bob Kranshaw, Reggie Workman, Drew Gress, Thomas Morgan, Joe Solomon, and Andy McKee. Luca has performed and recorded with eclectic artists such as Lew Soloff, Tony Malaby, Jon Irabagon, Daniel Carter, Salieu Suso, and Victory Boyd among others. He has toured with various ensembles in Switzerland, Greece, Spain, France, Belgium, South Korea, and New Zealand.
