Critic John Garratt writes that Shipp’s album Codebreaker, is the sound of Shipp gliding on autopilot, letting his subconscious do the talking. That it sounds so musical and reflective is a testament to his command of the instrument, improvisational skills, and ability to tap into what lies beneath.
