The Angel’s Share: Eldbjørg Hemsing With Albert Cano Smit at The Green-Wood Cemetery (Site)

We can think of no better way to escape from the sticky, sweaty, dumpster-fire mess that is NYC in July, than by letting the superstar Norwegian violinist-slash-Nordic-goddess Eldbjørg Hemsing take us on a journey through her icy homeland.
For this frosty mid-summer program, Hemsing explores the epic mythology and fragile reality of her native land, contrasting the sunny expansiveness of Grieg’s second Violin Sonata with a sweeping suite from Arctic, her acclaimed new album which paints the picture of a magnificent ecosystem threatened by climate change.
Each performance includes an hourlong spirits tasting, followed by a twilight walk through the cemetery to the Catacombs.

Eldbjørg Hemsing
Eldbjørg Hemsing is one of the leading young violinists of today. Acclaimed for her “radiant and sophisticated performances” (BBC Music Magazine), she is committed to bringing her art form to new and emerging audiences across the world.

Albert Cano Smit
Born in Geneva, Switzerland, Albert recently completed an Artist Diploma with Robert McDonald at the Juilliard School, where he was awarded the 2020 Rubinstein Prize for Piano.
