The Man Without a World: Film With Live Score at Museum of Jewish Heritage (Site)
Thursday December 22, 2022, 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
$22.85A unique group of Polish villagers—Jews, Cossacks, vagabonds—in the 1920s in a tale of romance, love, marriage, social struggles and death. A stunning silent film that seems to have been made in the Soviet era, but was really shot in San Diego in 1992 by groundbreaking artist Eleanor Antin. Lovingly restored by Milestone Films and featuring a newly composed score that will be performed live by world-renowned klezmer violinist Alicia Svigals and celebrated silent film pianist Donald Sosin.
A talk back session with Svigals and Sosin will take place at the conclusion of the film. This program is supported by the Sunrise Foundation for Education and the Arts.
In-Person Event at the Museum for Jewish Heritage, 36 Battery Place. Admission: $20 (not included in a Full Festival Pass or Evening Pass). The event will not be livestreamed, but a version for home viewing will be made available through this year’s YNY Yiddish Film Festival. Visit yiddishnewyork.com for more information.
