DOROT at 50! Music of Composers who Exiled to the Upper West Side

DOROT has provided opportunities for Holocaust survivors to cultivate and sustain community as they age. In this event, we celebrate those roots as well as how vibrantly DOROT’s mission continues. Three composers with very different stories are featured – Ursula Mamlok, George Grosz and Jerzy Fitelberg. They all escaped persecution and found welcome on the Upper West Side with its tight-knit neighborhoods and music-filled apartment buildings.

DOROT Artist/Scholar-in-Residence Jeanne Golan will be joined at the piano by violist Judith Ablon for this afternoon of solo and duo pieces that range from Romantic to Jazzy to Avant-Garde.
